Earlier today, a delegation from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), led by Omedo Geofrey, alongside Kachi Etolue, Special Adviser to the Abia State Governor on Energy, paid a courtesy visit to Geometric Power. The delegation also toured the company’s power plant, gaining firsthand insight into its operations and innovative approach to addressing Nigeria’s energy challenges. The visit highlighted Geometric Power’s transformative impact on the power sector, earning high praise from both the UNDP team and Abia State officials.

During the discussions, Barr. Ugo Opiegbe, Managing Director of APLE, emphasized the company’s contributions to Nigeria’s power sector. “Geometric Power’s dedication to providing reliable and sustainable electricity sets a gold standard for the industry. The Aba IPP project has enabled efficient power generation and distribution, driving economic transformation in Aba and beyond,” he stated.

The UNDP and Abia State officials toured Geometric Power’s advanced power plant, gaining a detailed understanding of its operations. The delegation praised the plant’s cutting-edge technology and its role in ensuring a stable power supply, which has been instrumental in supporting industrial and commercial activities in the region.

Omedo Geofrey of the UNDP lauded Geometric Power’s alignment with global sustainability goals. “Geometric Power’s efforts are a shining example of how private sector innovation can complement national development agendas. Their work in Aba demonstrates the tangible benefits of reliable power supply for communities and businesses,” he said.

Kachi Etolue, Special Adviser to the Abia State Governor on Energy, expressed deep admiration for the company’s impact. “Geometric Power has not only transformed Aba’s power supply but has also become a catalyst for economic growth in the region. Their commitment to excellence, particularly through APLE’s efficient distribution network, is truly inspiring and sets a model for others to follow,” he noted.

C. Don Adinuba highlighted the importance of natural gas in Africa’s energy transition. “Natural gas remains a critical component of Africa’s energy mix, and Geometric Power’s approach demonstrates how it can be harnessed to drive industrialization and economic growth sustainably,” he said.

The UNDP delegation emphasized the need for inclusive and sustainable energy solutions in Nigeria’s power sector reforms. They called for the integration of renewable energy while ensuring affordability and accessibility. “Sustainable energy is a necessity for Nigeria’s future. Geometric Power’s work in Aba, supported by APLE’s efficient distribution network, shows how reliable power can uplift communities and drive development,” the team stated.
