Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has commended Geometric Power for restoring electricity supply to Aba following the recent disruption caused by challenges in natural gas supply to the company’s power plant.
The Governor made the remarks while receiving the management of Geometric Power, led by its Chairman, Prof. Bart Nnaji, during a working visit to Government House, Umuahia.
Speaking at the meeting, Governor Otti acknowledged the impact of the outage on residents and businesses across Aba and expressed appreciation for the restoration of electricity supply.
“I must also put on record our appreciation for the resolution of the blackout that lasted several days. At some point, we were running around, and then we got the message that power had been restored. We want to congratulate and thank you.”
The Governor also reflected on the growing expectations around electricity supply in Aba, noting that improved power availability has changed public expectations.
“It’s interesting that when power goes out for hours in Aba, people are screaming because they have gotten used to constant electricity.”

Governor Otti encouraged Geometric Power to strengthen its resilience by exploring multiple gas supply sources and putting adequate backup arrangements in place to reduce the risk of similar disruptions in the future.
He reiterated the Abia State Government’s commitment to working with Geometric Power and other stakeholders to sustain improvements in electricity supply and support continued industrial growth in Aba.
During the engagement, Prof. Bart Nnaji briefed the Governor on the circumstances surrounding the gas supply disruption and the efforts that led to the restoration of power. He also reaffirmed Geometric Power’s commitment to strengthening the reliability and resilience of its operations and sustaining improved electricity supply within the Aba Ring-fence.
The meeting formed part of ongoing engagement between Geometric Power and the Abia State Government around energy security, infrastructure resilience, and the role of reliable electricity in supporting economic and industrial development.
Senior officials of Geometric Power and members of the Abia State Executive Council also participated in the meeting.
